Tag your posts faster

The original postpage has some disadvantages for tagging your posts. The major one: you can’t see all your existing tags to choose some of them. If you are typing into the add-tag field, after the first two chars the auto tag suggestions starts to give you a list with matching tags. This can slow down your client and server, because on every typed char a server request for auto-complete is running.

Current Version

The current version of “IWG Faster Tagging” is 1.2.0.

Supported WordPress-Versions

This Plugin is for WordPress 2.5 and later. It is tested on version 2.5.1 too. Also WordPress MU (µ) version 1.5.1 is supported.

Other Plugins you need

No other plugins are needed.

Download and Installation

1. Download the “IWG Faster Tagging” Plugin
2. Unzip the downloaded file and copy all included files and the directory in your plugin-directory (wp-content/plugins)
3. After this step you should have in your plugin-directory a file iwg_faster_tagging.php and a directory iwg_faster_tagging_stuff. The directory iwg_faster_tagging_stuff holds the additional stuff, like languages, javascript and styles. If you don’t have this layout, the plugin will not work.
4. Activate the Plugin at your WordPress “Plugins”-Tab
5. Ready!

For WPMU do the same steps in wp-content/mu-plugins. An extra activation isn’t needed here.

Update from 1.0.0 to 1.1.0

Important note: Auto-update isn’t recommended for this update, because the directory with languages, css and so on is renamed from iwg_faster_tagging to iwg_faster_tagging_stuff!

Remove all old parts from the plugin: iwg_faster_tagging.php and the directory iwg_faster_tagging. Then proceed with normal installation, please.
