I’ve decided that my Role Manager Plugin should also works with WordPress MU: This is the reason why I’ve played yesterday a little bit with WordPress µ to learn more about the adminstrator tasks.
I found the following bug in WordPress µ’s core:
- Go to “Site Admin” - “Site Options”
- Enable the “Plugins Menu”
- Save
- Disable the “Plugins Menu”
- Save
After the last step you can’t re-enabling the “Plugins Menu”.
I found in my server logs segmentation faults from apache.
The solution for this issue is quite simple and I submitted the following bug to WordPress MU’s trac. The ticket also include a diff-file for wpmu-edit.php in wp-admin.
Here are more about my test environment:
- WordPress MU 1.2.5a
- Apache 2.2.0
- PHP 5.1.2
- MySQL 5.0.18

this is very interesting to me, could it be, that these segfaults of my apache 1.3.34 are related to this bug?
Hmmm.. I tried your role-manager with wpmu, but nothing happens, instead segfaults are shown in the apache log. Is this the bug you mentioned?

Maybe, for the first part. But: I don’t believe that. You have an other problem with your apache.
The Role Manager don’t work with WPMU in the moment. If you have a copy of Role Manager in your µ’s
/plugins/-directory you don’t get seg faults. If you have seg-faults, remove the Role Manager - but the seg-faults will stay by you. The Role Manager isn’t the reason for your seg faults. You should look for other reasons, sorry.am 04.10.2007 um 13:06 Uhr:

Hi Thomas, der Role Manager in der WPMU Version würde die Arbeit mit der Wordpress Erweiterung sehr vereinfachen! Ich warte gespannt darauf. Derweil Programmiere ich an einem simplen Plugin das die Role Einstellungen der Angleicht. ZB. User-Einstellung für WPMU übergreifender Contributor.
